Using M64Plus FZ
M64Plus FZ is (at the time of writing) the only standalone Nintendo 64 emulator for Android. It uses mupen64plus as a base.
Warnings
- Depending on your device, some games may not work as intended and there might be no good solutions.
- Mario Artist Polygon Studio requires either Parallel / Software-Renderer emulation profile for full compatibility. See below for more information.
- F-Zero X Expansion Kit does not work.
- You can play the Cartridge Port version (can be found in the Database page, in Translations and Cartridge Ports), but you cannot save any custom tracks or machines.
- You cannot swap disks while playing.

Point to a folder of ROMs
- Touch the round + Button on the bottom right of the screen.
- Either touch Select ROM or Select Folder and select where the game ROM file(s) are.
- Note: This seems to only look at the Downloads folder on my phone, if it’s the same thing to you, feel free to make a folder inside the Downloads folder where you can put the ROMs in.
- It should automatically fill the screen, even with cover arts for the N64 cartridge ROM files.
Set the 64DD IPL ROM
- Touch the menu button on the top left, then touch Settings and then Data.
- Touch 64DD IPL (J) and then select the 64DD IPL Japanese ROM. (Find them in the Database page)
- It is possible to use the US IPL, but it isn’t recommended as most games, including translations, tend to keep the Japanese region.
Set Emulation Profile
This is important as this can greatly change the experience of the emulator across games.
- Touch the menu button on the top left, then touch Profiles and then Select Profiles.
- Then touch Emulation Profile, the first on the list.
- Scroll around to find a suitable profile.
It is recommended to use any of the following:
- GlideN64 (watch the spelling!), preferably GlideN64-Very-Accurate.
- This one is more performant for most games.
- Parallel
- This one is a lot more accurate but requires a powerful device to run it well.
- Solves many accuracy problems, and is the only way to play Mario Artist Polygon Studio with working 3D modeling support.
Then, set the controls as you need, and now you can now play games. Just keep in mind Emulation Profiles as needed (you can set them per game if you want).

How To Play Expansion Disks
- Touch a Nintendo 64 game, then touch Settings.
- Scroll down to find Support 64DD, enable it.
- Set the 64DD IPL to either 64DD IPL Japanese, USA or Development ROM. (Find them in the Database page)
- Development ROM is recommended for Dezaemon 3D.
- Set 64DD Disk (ndd) to the expansion disk file.
- Anytime you play that N64 title you have modified the settings to, the expansion disk will be automatically inserted. Disable Support 64DD if you don’t want that anymore next time.
